Hello!
If you’re reading this, you’re at least curious about helping out with the podfic. If that’s the case, read on and we’ll lay out what goes into this project and how you can help.
Read
The basic version of this podfic is one person reads everything.
The moderately ambitious version (which we’re currently doing!) is to have a different narrator for all of the main eight characters. (Yes, Garret counts, and so does Visser Three!) We’d love to have different people narrate the interludes though!
The super ambitious version (which we’re currently not doing, but who knows?) would be to have a different voice for every character.
If you’d like to do some reading, then send us an email at AtRpodfic [at] gmail [dot] com with what you’d like to read, along with a short audio sample of a paragraph of text, preferably in MP3 format. If you need recording software, Audacity has our highest recommendation. We’ll get back to you about whether 1. anyone else is reading that section yet, and 2. if your audio is clear enough to be usable.

Write Interweaves
The way we make each chapter currently, the main narrator for the chapter reads it through all the way. Separately, we make a text file where everyone else’s lines are broken out, and then everyone else just reads their section. That way if Marco just has a couple of lines of dialogue, Marco’s narrator can just read those lines, and then our editor weaves everyone’s voices together.
Said editor also puts the interweaves together. It’s really just as simple as reading through the chapter with a text editor open, copying and pasting in lines said by characters who aren’t the viewpoint. The format we currently use looks like this:
——–Chapter X
—-Tobias
“Me, too,” Tobias said quietly. “I mean, not Homer. Dude. I morphed Dude, my cat.”
—
“It doesn’t hurt,” Tobias said. “It’s super gross and disturbing, but it doesn’t hurt.”
—-Rachel
“Hey,” Rachel interjected. “Who died and made you emperor?”
—
“No,” she answered quietly. “My sister. Sara.”
If there’s a rapid back-and-forth conversation, sometimes we’ll include both sides of it so the reader can see what they’re responding to. We currently have interweaves written up to chapter 29, so if you want to write one, go ahead and then send us an email at AtRpodfic [at] gmail [dot] com with it and I’ll update this note!
Intro Music
We currently aren’t using any intro or outro music. Our ambitious editor has been trying to cover It’s All In Your Hands (the best thing to come out of the Animorphs TV show) without what the rest of the cast would call resounding success. If you’re good with an instrument and willing to let your cover be used, please take a stab at it and send it our way at atrpodfic [at] gmail [dot] com. Since he thinks it would be really cool to have different instruments as the music for different characters, we’d welcome multiple covers.
. . . Our editor also loves listening to a dozen different covers of the same song right in a row, thinks that song is totally awesome, and would be delighted by any number of covers, but will admit that more than eight would be of decreasing usefulness to this podfic project.
Hi. I’m the editor writing this. Please someone with musical talent help me figure out the sheet music for this because I’m terrible with pitch and am mostly guessing at the chords through the distortion.
Spread the word
We like knowing people are enjoying the podfic. If you like it, please recommend us to people who you think might also like it! It sounds basic, but praise and feedback is encouraging and keeps us going.
